BiographyPlease scroll down to see institutions and centres where Clara has taught, as well as a list of her certifications in health and movement. Clara is passionate about approaches to health & training the voice that afford greater awareness. Going directly into sensation and emotion allows people to become aware of habitual impediments to self expression, whether physical or psycho-spiritual. It's amazing how the body can incorporate trauma for better, with the proper, patient, curious attention. She has presented her methods to an Arizona psychology association specialised in dealing with trauma victims, and worked with the psychologists, themselves, on remediating their own traumas from working day in and day out with victims of multiple PTSD. Clara holds a master’s degree from Stanford University where she stayed on to create and teach an opera workshop course for the Department of Music, as well as a public speaking & body awareness class for professors and doctoral students. A seasoned university instructor, Clara has held the position of vocal director for university and professional theatre productions, taught voice and music education, and has lectured on topics including trauma and its pattern of holding in the body and cranial nerves, and patterns of trauma both structural and psychological and their impact on the voice. She also founded and heads an opera festival and training program called the Vocal Academy of Orvieto for emerging opera singers in summers. In 2009, Clara joined a professional Feldenkrais Method training in Turin, Italy, with teachers Paul and Julie Casson Rubin, among Moshe Feldenkrais' direct, chosen proteges, and proceeded to teach mat classes and 'trauma-release through singing' at various locales in ranging from universities to health and medical spas all around Europe. Her teachers studied directly with Moshe Feldenkrais, himself, and were in his "inner circle" of those he chose to continue with the work. She currently directs Feldenkrais Turkey, and is available to set up and host trainings with other teachers. As an opera singer, Clara discovered a passion and respect for life, a profound spirituality and wisdom, which is contained within our own bodies. The modern health institutions have forgotten and indeed, repressed the knowledge that our bodies and central nervous systems marvellous healing mechanisms and can adapt, recover, and grow stronger from all manner of trauma whether physical, emotional, and psychological. She owes the continuation of her singing career following a serious accident to the experiences she had in such places as LifeCo, where she learned about the relationship of diet and health to optimal performance, and not least, to the Feldenkrais method and other forms of meditation and conscious movement.
